It all starts with the desire to create an inspiring space, in an environment that is usually difficult to find in big cities. With the aim of providing a unique experience where we can enjoy the best of both worlds: the countryside and the city.
The Douro cliffs provide unique experiences of contact with nature and the river, crossed by numerous bridges that take us, in minutes, to the hustle and bustle of the city. And that is where we find ourselves: the best of both worlds.
Maintaining the architectural, cultural and gastronomic traditions of our city has always been our biggest goal.
And so, stone by stone, we built a ruin, a grocery store, a barber shop, and an island of houses where several families once shared their lives and stories. Today, all of these elements are also part of our heritage and we are proud to present them.
It was at the end of the 19th century, with the industrial development of the city and the arrival of many migrants from the north of the country, that this type of housing became widespread.
The owners of bourgeois houses opened a narrow corridor to the back of the yard where they built small, precarious neighbourhoods - Islands as the people of Porto called them.
Built in a row in the backyards, these dwellings were home to hundreds of families.
On our Island, the doors of the houses with vibrant and cheerful colors marked the different personalities of those who lived there.
Maintaining the historicity, all 6 exterior rooms have different colors, different decorations, distinct and marked personalities, having only in common the comfort and tranquility that characterizes us..

THE ISLAND
THE MAIN HOUSE
Dating back to the end of the 19th century and restored to its original architecture, this is where the whole experience begins.
It is the place where we welcome our guests and share a little about the accommodation concept and experience.
The dining room is the old grocery store, where we serve breakfast, and where you will spend one of the best gastronomic moments of your stay.
The panoramic bar is a place to contemplate the river, have a good conversation, enjoy a hot tea on rainy days, a classic cocktail on a summer day, and, in any season, a moment of calm with a good book.
The main house, as in its original version, houses five of our accommodations on the first floor. You will also find three rooms with river views, the suite and our romantic room.

Where white clothes were hung out, children played, the elderly shared stories, and where the first balloons were released on St. John's Eve, today we have our leisure space.
The infinity pool, whose shape is inspired by the shade of the Stone Pine that protects it, allows you to contemplate the most precious view over the Douro.
Whether on sunny mornings or rosy evenings watching the rabelo boats sailing on the river, this will undoubtedly be one of your favorite spots during your stay.

THE COURTYARD
In the surrounding area of the land paved with stones from the original house, there are spaces to enjoy, appreciate, take a deep breath and contemplate.
Discover the river view, the fruit trees, the herb garden, the lavender path and large lawns to lie down and simply relax.
